Hiro Saga

Lady Hiro Saga (嵯峨浩 Saga Hiro?), (April 16, 1914 - June 20, 1987), was the daughter of Marquis Saga and a relative of Japanese Emperor Hirohito. She was married in 1938 to Prince Pujie, brother of the Emperor Puyi (China 1908-1912 and Manchukuo 1934-1945). After her marriage to Pujie, she was known as, and identified herself as, Aisin-Gioro Hiro (愛新覺羅·浩), or Aisin-Gioro Hao in Chinese.

The arranged marriage between the Japanese Hiro Saga and the puppet Emperor of Manchukuo's brother, was most likely aimed at either fortifying relations between the two nations or of introducing Japanese blood into the Manchurian Imperial family. However, she only bore Pujie two daughters, Princess Huisheng and Princess Yunsheng.

After the fall of Manchukuo in 1945, Hiro Saga sought refuge in various places in China before returning to Japan. In 1961, after the release of her husband Pujie from prison, the couple were re-united, and lived in Beijing from 1961.

Hiro Saga died in 1987 and her husband in 1994.
