[edit] Regional scenes

Now that the box no longer says national scenes, should we put African hip hop back in? Tim Ivorson 10:56, 10 Jan 2005 (UTC)

I suppose it could go back. Tuf-Kat 12:06, Jan 10, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Stylistic origins

It said Dub, Jazz, Rock, Disco, Soul, funk, R&B, and spoken word -- I know that hip hop drew on all these genres, but it seems a bit preposterous to list basically everything that Americans listened to in the early 70s as "stylistic origins". That strikes me as being a bit of a cop-out. All those styles were influential yes, but the box is asking for the actual origins. Also, I think it's imprecise to say "dub", since that genre is not usually said to have been invented until the early to mid 70s, while Herc brought toasting to New York in 1969, IIRC. So, I have changed it to something a bit more precise and adding a link to roots of hip hop music. Tuf-Kat 04:52, September 7, 2005 (UTC)
