Hinunangan, Southern Leyte

Hinunangan is a 4th class municipality in the province of Southern Leyte, Philippines. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 25,016 people in 5,438 households.
Hinunangan is known as the "Rice Granary of the Province" for its vast plain land that is entirely planted with rice. Hinunangan, one of the key towns of the province, has great potential for tourism because of its seemingly beautiful beaches and islands.

Hinunangan is also known as the 4th getway in leyte because it is very near to tacloban. As soon as the national road will be finish, hinunangan will become a 4th getway. It Is also the place in southern leyte with the most immigrants of Europe and Usa. It has a lot of touristic places, as Tahusan or the twin islands and a lot of nature. It is also a place far of cities but it was the first place where cellphone was put in. There is also hotels, a mini-market, resorts, Hinunangan evoluted a lot in a few years, it became as important as Cabali-an, it will almost be as important as Sogod, things became very expensive in Hinunangan, it is due to a high population of immigrants from Europe and Usa. Hinunangan is politically subdivided into 40 barangays. Two if which barangays is a twin island located at the east of the town.
