In Polynesian mythology, Hina is a moon goddess. In some traditions, she is the mother of Māui, whom she once asked to slow down the sun so days would last longer. He succeeded. She was a dual goddess, portrayed with two heads symbolizing day and night. She was a guardian of the underworld and patron of artisans and craftsmen. She was Tuna's lover.
