Hildanknight is a 14-year-old Singaporean male who contributes to the English Wikipedia. He has been contributing since February 2006.
The username "Hildanknight" is derived from his school's chess team. Hildanknight uses the display name "J.L.W.S. The Special One" on most communities, including Wikipedia, and prefers to be called J.L.W.S., which are his initials. The suffix "The Special One" is a reference to Jose Mourinho, manager of his favourite soccer team, Chelsea F.C., although Hildanknight also considers himself special.

[edit] History
Hildanknight has used Wikipedia as a reference for school projects for a long time. During November 2005, he started reading Wikipedia articles on websites and computer companies, particularly NeoPets, RuneScape, Gmail and Microsoft. He joined Wikipedia on 10 February 2006. His first contribution was creating the GTalkr article [1]. Another early edit was adding a report about a cookie grabbing incident to the NeoPets article [2]. Many of Hildanknight's first edits were {{helpme}} requests to his talk page; however, over time, he has used this sparingly, and was banned from using it by User:Commander Keane on 2 June 2006 [3]. One of his early articles, Gmail Help Discussion, was deleted for containing original research.
[edit] Activities
Hildanknight contributes information to articles about websites and Singapore TV shows. He created the Google Groups and Homerun articles [4].
Hildanknight also regularly participates in discussions about Wikipedia and articles. He created the Wikipedia:Requests for feedback initiative, for new users to request feedback on their articles/edits and use this feedback to improve the quality of their edits, after finding difficulty getting feedback on his new articles [5].
Hildanknight occasionally reverts vandalism to articles he is interested in [6][7][8]. However, this is not his main purpose on Wikipedia, as he prefers to spend his time more constructively by contributing information and participating in discussions [9]. In addition, he corrects grammatical errors if he spots them in articles he is interested in.
Hildanknight intends to continue contributing information about websites and local TV shows. He is currently seeking a structured method of contributing information and thus improving the quality of articles on these topics.
He has shown concern about the exclamation mark in Yahoo! being commonly omitted. He is currently commited to adding omitted exclamation marks on Yahoo!-related articles. His first such edit was on 16 March [2006] [10][11] and he has since made more edits adding omitted exclamation marks in Yahoo!-related articles [12][13]. He has set up Wikipedia:WikiProject_Yahoo! to further this cause. On 4 June 2006, User:Mets501 used Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser to add omitted exclamation marks to over 300 pages, which has largely resolved this problem.
In a survey by User:Linuxbeak, Hildanknight stated that he "wanted to make a significant contribution to such a mammoth project as Wikipedia" [14].
[edit] Criticism
In his relatively short time as a Wikipedian, Hildanknight has faced several criticisms from established Wikipedians. He has also encountered various difficulties while editing Wikipedia, and has some criticisms of the project.
[edit] Blocks
Hildanknight's ISP is StarHub, and StarHub's IP 202.156.6.54 is shared by the majority of Singapore Internet users. Therefore, this IP is often used by vandals. Since 18 February, Hildanknight has frequently been the victim of collateral damage caused by blocks to this IP address [15] and has repeatedly complained about the blocks on his talk page [16][17].
[edit] Problems understanding wiki markup
Hildanknight has often faced problems understanding the wiki markup. At the Wikipedia:New contributors' help page, he wrote "However, I find the Wikipedia editing page interface slightly difficult to use. It doesn't act like a WYSIWYG editor or HTML editor." [18]. His most common mistake is failing to enclose templates such as {{helpme}} or {{peerreview}} in <nowiki> tags when referring to them [19][20]. Another common mistake he makes is forgetting to sign when neccesary [21][22][23]. He also does not understand some formatting and layout markup, and some of his edits have caused pages to become disorganized. For example, when creating the Google Groups article, he inserted images which messed up the article. [24]
As his experience editing Wikipedia has grown, his mistakes have become less noticable, although they still occur occasionally.
[edit] Disrupting Wikipedia to prove a point
Hildanknight sometimes find it difficult to seek help, make suggestions or present points, and this has resulted in edits that disrupt Wikipedia to prove a point. For example, not knowing how to request a Google Talk userbox, he vandalized the Userboxes page [25]. Fortunately, User:Lbmixpro eventually added the Google Talk userbox. Hildanknight also vandalized User:Yurik's user page to inform him that it is possible to create an MSN Passport with a Gmail account to use MSN Messenger [26].
Besides failing to <nowiki> templates when referring to them, this user also has been known to place templates in the wrong place. For example, he once placed a {{helpme}} on Jimbo Wales' talk page [27]. After his nomination of NeoPets for Wikipedia:Featured article failed, Hildanknight decided to request the NeoPets article be peer reviewed. However, he placed the {{peerreview}} tag on the NeoPets article page, when it should go on the talk page [28].
After Hildanknight became frustrated by constant blocks to his IP (see "Blocks" section above), he complained on Jimbo Wales' talk page [29] and followed up by vandalising User:Zpb52's user page [30] and posting threats on his IP's talk page [31]. User:NSLE blocked him indefinitely for repeatedly disrupting Wikipedia to prove a point, but User:Khaosworks unblocked him half an hour later, ironically proving the level of collateral damage caused by blocks of User:202.156.6.54.
