So, now I have confess'd that he is thine, And I myself am mortgaged to thy will, Myself I'll forfeit, So that other mine thou wilt restore, To be my comfort still: But thou wilt not, nor he will not be free, For thou art covetous and he is kind; He learn'd but surety-like to write for me under that bond that him as fast doth bind. The statute of thy beauty thou wilt take, Thou usurer, That put'st forth all to use, And sue a friend came debtor for my sake; So him I lose through my unkind abuse. Him have I lost; Thou hast both him and me: He pays the whole, And yet am I not free.

From fairest creatures we desire increase, That thereby beauty's rose might never die, But as the riper should by time decease, His tender heir might bear his memory: But thou, contracted to thine own bright eyes, Feed'st thy light'st flame with self-substantial fuel, Making a famine where abundance lies, Thyself thy foe, to thy sweet self too cruel. Thou that art now the world's fresh ornament and only herald to the gaudy spring, Within thine own bud buriest thy content and, tender churl, makest waste in niggarding. Pity the world, or else this glutton be, To eat the world's due, by the grave and thee.

When forty winters shall beseige thy brow, And dig deep trenches in thy beauty's field, Thy youth's proud livery, so gazed on now, Will be a tatter'd weed, of small worth held: Then being ask'd where all thy beauty lies, Where all the treasure of thy lusty days, To say, within thine own deep-sunken eyes, Were an all-eating shame and thriftless praise. How much more praise deserved thy beauty's use, if thou couldst answer 'This fair child of mine shall sum my count and make my old excuse, Proving his beauty by succession thine! This were to be new made when thou art old, And see thy blood warm when thou feel'st it cold.

Blue Jay

The Blue Jay (Cyanocitta cristata) is a North American jay which can be found over a very large area of the eastern side of the continent. It is mainly a bird of mixed woodland, but also of parks and gardens in some towns and cities. Image Painter

The source link given at Image:香妃.jpg is dead. Are you sure the artist died before 1906? Who painted that picture, and what sources indicate s/he died before 1906?

The author of this painting is Lang Shining, an Italian painter who came to China during Emperor Qianlong's reign, which is the 18th century (1700s). There is no way he can live pass 1906, because then, he would be about 200 years old. The longest living person in history is a French woman who lived to 122 years. Thank you! I've added that information so others won't have to ask you again. Wikipeditor 03:45, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

If you don't do so already, please consider uploading images to the Wikimedia Commons in the future, which would allow sister projects to use them. Thank you! Wikipeditor 03:00, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Naming Question

Hi Highshines I was wondering where you got that bit from about that she was also known as the Gong Shun Empress. I have never seen that in any text nor article I have read about her.

If you look at her full posthumous title, you will find the third and fourth characters are "Gong Shun". Qing Dynasty Empresses are named by the 3rd and 4th characters, such as the Long Yu Empress, Jia Shun Empress, "Ci Xi", "Ci An", etc. :) Highshines 09:39, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the information:). In some cases thats true. This is because they are better known that way in China and all over the world. But Empress Xiao Yi Chun and most other empresses are not. Empress Xiao Yi Chun is normally known as the mother of the Jiaqing emperor. In most chinese series they normally use the name "Consort Ling" like in the series "Pearl princess". What we could do is just add the full posthumous title to the article.

Hi there, I've responded to you post at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard#User: Niohe. Please try to avoid using "frames" and explicitly sized thumbnails. Every Wikipedia user has a preference setting which they can use to set the size of thumbnail they want to see (between 120 and 300px) — after all, users know the size of their display better than you do. I have updated a number of articles that you have contributed on to match this recommendation. Thanks/wangi 14:39, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Thank you. :) Highshines 19:16, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Empress Dowager Cixi

Please be more careful when reverting articles. When you want to undo all of a user's edits to an article, please make sure to make comments why you reverted on the relevant talk page. Thanks, Khoikhoi 05:37, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

No problem. :) Highshines 09:39, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

I have been working on cleaning up the article Empress Dowager Cixi, which you have, on two occasions now, completely wiped out with your reverting. If you have any problems with the clean-up, please discuss them in the article's "discussion" page before wiping the whole clean-up out. I am very happy to share the clean-up work with you, but you have to talk to me if you disagree with anything so we can improve the article. Ka-ru 07:16, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Sorry about that. :) Highshines 09:39, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Commons

Great that we can talk. Go to Wikimedia Commons and you will find instructions. You create a user account, just like in English Wikipedia and upload the pictures there. Then you tag the pictures {{NowCommons}} in English Wikipedia and they will be hyperlinked to Commons. The pictures will be preserved (provided that they are public domain) and can be used in all versions of Wikipedia.--Niohe 04:12, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the information. :) Highshines 09:39, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Images with non-Roman alphabet names

Would you have a problem if the various images that you have uploaded with (Unicoded) Chinese names, such as Image:西太后七十大寿摄影.jpg were renamed with Roman alphabet (probably English) names? I think that would be more useful for the English-language Wikipedia. -- ArglebargleIV 19:39, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Not at all. Please go ahead. :) Highshines 20:07, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Your Userpage

I removed the text from your userpage, as it is a copyright violation from [1]edit Sparknotesedit. Please don't copy and paste unfree text onto Wikipedia. Teke (talk) 02:23, 27 January 2007 (UTC) I deleted your userpage, and then restored it with the last "clean" revision(http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Highshines&action=history). This is necessary because the copyrighted text will show up on Wikipedia mirrors and search engines. I apologize for the inconvenience. Teke (talk) 03:10, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the information. However, you could just have deleted the text and left the other things intact. Highshines 08:37, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

The deletion policy is that copyright violations are to be removed from the page history. I took it back to the last version that had none of the text, and I know it screwed up the other pictures you had on there. Sorry for the inconvenience, but if you don't infringe copyright you won't have the problem. Teke (talk) 16:41, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply. Highshines 17:55, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Moving pages

Well...if you're being reverted numerous times, then you don't have consensus to change them. Try to gain consensus on the relevant page, such as Wikipedia talk:WikiProject China or Wikipedia talk:History standards for China-related articles. At present, WP:UCN prevails.

In addition, once you gain consensus to move a page, please make an effort to leave an edit summary to accompany the move. --Jiang 02:24, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

My reason is simple. The unification of names. In fact, Niohe has already proposed the kind of page moves I made earlier. I think you better ask him first why he changed his mind. Highshines 08:40, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

To find out how to format the talk page, please visit requested moves and follow the directions for listing. Teke (talk) 02:27, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

I don't want to find out how to format the talk page. I have already done it. Highshines 08:22, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Practise what you preach, please.

I don't think I need to remind you that these edits are not very civil. Be nice! Otherwise... -- 我♥中國 19:53, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Removing comments

You appear to have a rather contentious history on Wikipedia; removing comments on an administrators' noticeboard is most certainly not a good way to show good faith. [edit before I submit this comment] And I see now you have done it again. Can you give me a single reason why you should not be blocked for disruption? —bbatsell ¿? 22:35, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

I have blocked you for 2 weeks

for unilateral mass pagemoves without discussion despite a prior block for the same offense, compounded by making extremely vulgar and lewd insults at another editor and lying about your intentions and trying to cover it up afterward. If you feel you were blocked unjustly, read Wikipedia:Appealing a block and follow the directions there. -- 我♥中國 22:39, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

I have protected your user talk page to prevent your continuous removal of the block message. You can direct further communications to admins through email. -- 我♥中國 04:48, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Blocked for 1 month

I have extended your block by one month for using sockpuppets to evade an existing block, uncivil comments at User talk:Niohe, and mass removal of sockpuppet notices by said sockpuppets.

If I see one more case of sockpuppetry or incivility, the block will become permanent. There will be no more warnings.--Jiang 08:03, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Blocked indefinitely
