[edit] Joan of Arc
Thank you for the warning. I hope the controversy is old enough that things have died down. I doubt I'll encounter problems on the homophobia issue. Modern scholars who make homosexual attributions to Joan of Arc don't gain much credence among mainstream historians. Regarding devout Catholics my position is simple: be respectful and consistent. Anything that meets normal standards of scholarship is worth repeating. Offer mundane alternatives for seemingly miraculous events. If belief in a claim requires more faith than scholarship then it belongs in a faith-based publication. I've been as transparent as possible about my changes in an effort to avert confusion. — Durova 00:29, 29 October 2005 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for your diligent support. I'm proceeding with a rewrite of the introduction and background. He doesn't seem to disagree with all my changes. It's an odd thing about volunteer editors (not only from here): some of them can't resist the temptation to muddle up clear prose. I wonder why. Let's just smile and take this with humor. The stakes are pretty small. — Durova 17:40, 29 October 2005 (UTC)
