[edit] Proposed merger
I am trying to figure the proposed merger. Cant see what it might achieve. Highlands and Islands has various meanings, some more or less vague than others. The electoral region, however, is very precisely defined, in terms of area and purpose, and should have its own article, as do each of the other electoral regions of the Scottish Parliament. Might make sense to move Highlands and Islands, as it is now, to Highlands and Islands (Scottish Parliament region), and then to move Highlands and Islands area to Highlands and Islands. - The proposed name-change makes sense to me; I agree the electoral region ought to have its own page, but think the name 'Highlands and Islands' should probably just direct to the more general article. Candle-ends 23:52, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Requested move
Highlands and Islands area → Highlands and Islands : 'area' tag redundant : Laurel Bush 16:56, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

- Support - As request reason, above. Laurel Bush 16:57, 20 April 2006 (UTC).
- Support as above - makes sense that the general article should be at Highlands and Islands, with a link to the Parliament region. — sjorford (talk) 13:18, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
- Support — Makes sense to me: make the most obvious article have the most obvious name.
- Done. —Nightstallion (?) Seen this already? 09:01, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] NUTS level 2 region
Would be nice to see a precise definition of the NUTS level 2 region. The NUTS article is not very helpful. Laurel Bush 09:18, 26 April 2006 (UTC).
