Highway 125 is Ontario's northernmost Kings Highway. The road is just 13 km long, but travels from its terminus at Highway 105 in Red Lake, Ontario to the ferry docks in Balmertown, Ontario, which serve the towns of McKenzie Island, Ontario and Cochenour, Ontario. The only pronvicially-controlled highway that travels further north is Highway 599 to Pickle Lake and Central Patricia. The road was paved in its entirety by 1963.
Beyond Cochenour and Balmertown, unmaintained forestry roads travel northwards to Pikangikum, Ontario, and link to winter/ice roads that service communities even further north.
