Highnam

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Highnam is a small village on the outskirts of Gloucester (about 2 miles away). It is linked to Gloucester by the A40. Highnam was originally farm land, one of the resons for some street names (brimsome meadow, poppy field, stoney field, long field, peters field, williams orchard, etc.) . As a village Highnam is fairly small, containing few social amenities. Its contents include a Church from the late mediaeval period, a school (Highnam C of E Primary), a village hall and a doctor's surgery.

Highnam also has an eighteen hole golf course and a large business park. Aside from buildings it has a soccer team and a cricket team.

It also has woods (Lassington Wood, Highnam wood)
