[edit] Plot summary

The episode begins with a dream flashback involving Holland, back in his days with the SOF. He awakes with a start in his quarters, and listens to news of a tectonic shift in the planet. He rushes to the bridge, where he excitedly tells Hap.

While he is ironing, Renton lets himself become distracted, and burns a hole in one of Talho's clothes. He hides it in the cash register. Gidget and Moondoggie tell him that a big trapar wave is coming somewhere. The adult staff pinpoint the location in the briefing room—in the southern hemisphere. They would not reach the wave in time on the Ley Line, but Holland intends to use the boosters of the Gekko to perform a ballistic flight.

Annoyed with the crew's general obsession with the big wave, Talho finds her old uniform in the cash register in Renton's absence, complete with the hole from the iron. Renton, in the hangar, wonders why everyone's so excited over such a faraway wave, when Eureka tells him to get strapped into the copilot seat. She gives him a sack, because "today's maneuver is going to be rough." After the launch, she invites him to look at the stars together in low orbit. Stoner, on the bridge, snaps a photo of a large spiral cloud formation—the Great Wall.

In a vaulted office, Dominic concludes his report regarding the incident at Ciudades del Cielo. Dewey interrupts his report, asking him for an analysis. Dominic says that the evidence points squarely at Gekkostate as the ones behind the attack on the bomber. Dewey decides to mobilize one of his squad members before the squad itself is officially established.

The Gekkostate members arrive at an abandoned military base, waiting for the wave. Apparently, Talho had intentionally landed away from the prime spot. Eureka finds that she can't tune the Nirvash the way she used to, as Renton was becoming more adept at its maintenance.

Holland and Talho venture to the ruins of the base, remembering how they escaped the military together. Holland tells Talho that he wants to forget everything and run away, but he can't. He asks her to help him forget. She tells him, as the sun sets, that he wouldn't have accepted Renton into the crew unless he had made his choice to move forward.

In another vaulted room, Dominic finds a young girl huddled in a blanket on the ground. He tries to get her to stop, but she punches him. She's hiding, she says, because she has a persistent nosebleed. Just then, Dewey approaches her, and Anemone gives him a hug.

[edit] Significance

Renton mentions that had he known what Eureka was thinking when she saw the Great Wall, things might not have become the way they did. Most likely, he was speaking about the events midway through the series[1].

[edit] Trivia

In one of the Nirvash's compartments, compac drives are visible inside green casings. This suggests that they play a role other than machine-pilot interfacing.
