Hien (character)

Hien is the subordinate of Shigi, a general in the Kotou army. He is hot tempered and easily angered, especially by Taki (Uruki/Rimudo's alias whilst in the Kotou army). He fights with two swords and is very skilled at fighting (he held his own in a fight with Uruki with only one arm and would have killed Tomite) as is Shigi, who nearly killed Takiko. However, when Uruki cheats in a fight (he pretends to be on Shigi and Hien's side then turns into a woman and attacks from behind) and cuts of Hien's arm, he earns the grudge of a lifetime. From that moment, Hien stalks Uruki with fervour and will stop at nothing until he sees her/him dead. Hien is revealed in chapter 19 to have been found and offered a job on the spot by Hakei when he was very young and he was the sole survivor in his hometown which was attacked, and because of this is loyal to Hakei and Shigi only.
