Hickory Ridge High School (already referred to informally as The Ridge) will be a comprehensive public high school in Harrisburg, North Carolina. When it opens in the fall of 2007 it will be the sixth high school in the Cabarrus County Schools system. Hickory Ridge will draw its student body from the existing districts of Central Cabarrus High School and Jay M. Robinson High School, opening with an enrollment of approximately 1,000 students in grades 9-11. Hickory Ridge will graduate its first senior class in June of 2009.

[edit] Campus

Architects took the design of Jay M. Robinson High School and found more economical means of design. For example, instead of two central courtyards and a quarter-mile long hallway, there will be 4 wings branching off of the main part of the building. The rest of Hickory Ridge will be almost in the same design as Jay M. Robinson except with a few extra changes.

The campus is 106 acres in size and will include the school facility and athletic facilities.

[edit] The school taking shape

  • As of this writing (November 22, 2006), Hickory Ridge High School is on schedule to be completed by August 2007.
  • The school colors are blue, silver and white. In October of 2006 it was announced that the Hickory Ridge nickname would be the "Ragin' Bulls."
  • At least one candidate for the Cabarrus County Board of Education in 2006 ran on a platform of renaming Hickory Ridge as "Harrisburg High School," due to the complaints of some Harrisburg residents about the current name.

[edit] Prinicpals

  • Dan Meehan (2005-present)
