moved. The Hibernia platform comes in at about 500,000. --Csnewton 16:32, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)

The Hibernia is still heavier. The Troll is taller and the highest object ever moved, but Hibernia weighs over 1 million tons compared to troll's 650,000 tons. Jcmurphy
Can you provide a source or reference for the mass of the Hibernia? Troll is not the tallest structure moved, it has since been surpassed by the Petronius Platform (472 m versus 610 m). --Csnewton 19:15, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I found this - How big is Hibernia. As with most platforms, the gravity base structure is moved on its own. The total mass moved was 600,000 tons. Once the base was in place they added the ballast and topsides, another 600,000 tons bringing it to 1.2 million tons. Troll was moved with much of the topsides in place at 656,000 tons they then added ballast to bring the total weight to 1,050,000 tons - The Troll Platform --Csnewton 20:37, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Hibernia was moved from Newfoundland to the Grand Banks with all of the topsides installed and mated to the GBS. The Guinness Book of Records (1997) lists Hibernia as the heaviest object ever moved. The GBS alone at Hibernia was over 660,000 tons (see http://www.gerwick.com/experience.asp?WorkTypeID=22).
Yes, Hibernia was moved with some of the topsides in place. The Hibernia page I provided may be more reliable than the engineering firms' site you provided, not certain though. Troll was moved in 1995/1996, and the 1997 Guinness was published in 1996. Do you have a more recent edition? Why not just put in "One of the largest..."--Csnewton 19:27, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Errrrrr

Why was the page on the platform itself moved, without moving any of the information or pictures along with it? It's the world's largest oil platform and ought to have more than a small mention in the introduction of the article. --Joffeloff 20:11, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
