[edit] Unspecified source for Image:KatieCouricBeforeToday.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:KatieCouricBeforeToday.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Harmil 20:42, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:KatieMattAl.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:KatieMattAl.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Chowbok 19:49, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Untagged image

An image you uploaded, Image:CheshireAcademyCrest.jpg, was tagged with the {{coatofarms}} copyright tag. This tag was deleted because it does not actually specify the copyright status of the image. The image may need a more accurate copyright tag, or it may need to be deleted. If the image portrays a seal or emblem, it should be tagged as {{seal}}. If you have any questions, ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. -- 10:29, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:MiamiBeachSeal.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:MiamiBeachSeal.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

I was wondering if you could upload pictures of the Survivor: Fiji contestants, similar to the ones you did for Cook Islands? I don't know where to get the pictures. Jordan 01:42, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:RWPuck.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:RWPuck.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. —Angr 23:27, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The Real World: San Francisco

I don't know why you assume that I uploaded new versions of the pictures just to take credit for them, since it's obvious by looking at them that they're different versions that I cropped in order to remove the ugly black borders on them and improve the article. Nothing more. Looking through the contributions on my User Page would also inform you that I don't really need to take credit for anyone else's work, since I have plenty of images of my own that I've uploaded to WP, and that I've also put in a tremendous amount of work into the Real World articles in general. Improving the pics in some of them was just one minor example of this. I've had images of my own removed from articles by people who legitimately improved those articles, and I didn't respond by accusing them of anything. (The Halloween article is one example.) If I do have a problem, I try talking with them about it in a civil manner. You might want to try the same. I think others might agree that the black lines on the older versions are ugly, but if you want to hold a vote and go with whatever the consensus decides, we can do that instead, and should they prefer your versions, I'll abide by that. But please don't make unsubstantiated accusations toward me, okay? It goes against the Wikipedia: Civility and Wikipedia: Assume Good Faith policies. :-) Nightscream 17:39, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

I uploaded them under different names because you can't use the same file name for two different images. If there is some way to alter an image without having to give it a new name when re-uploading it, I am unaware of it. There are many aspects of WP that I am still learning, and the fact that it is possible to change an image and retain its original name (which I take it is what you seem to be implying), is apparently one of them. Again, why you continue to assume the worst possible motive when there other less nefarious ones that you have not eliminated, I don't know. Perhaps the Good Faith policy may be one aspect of WP that you are unfamiliar with, but since I already mentioned it and the Civility policy, one wonders why you didn't even respond to that point. I apologize if you thought I was attempting to take credit for your work, but I wasn't, since who uploaded or screencapped an image is not much concern to me, given the collaborative nature that Wikipedia prescribes. Although I once tried to put my username in the captions of photos of mine that appeared in articles, I've since learned that WP doesn't seem to want this, and at this point, there are numerous images of mine in various articles that do not have my name on them, and other images I've scanned that I've modified. Altering an image that you originally uploaded is no more an attempt to take "credit" than altering this image implies that I am somehow the artist who created it. You need to learn how to deal with conflict with others, my friend, and unsubstantiated rants about what you think is "suspicious" (which say more about your own paranoia than any motive on my part) aren't the way to go about it. :-) I've gone and added a credit to you on the pages containing the new, cropped images. Let me know if that is acceptable to you. Nightscream 04:35, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
