Heslington Church

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Saint Paul's Church, Heslington (Heslington Church) is in the parish (and village) of Heslington, near York, England.

It is a local ecumenical partnership between the Church of England and the Methodist Church, making it one of few joint Methodist/Anglican churches. Along with the Roman Catholic Chaplaincy, it also serves the University of York. The building is unusual in that, although it looks much like a traditional parish church from the outside, the north side was removed in renovations during the 1960s. It was replaced with a modern addition so that the sanctuary is closed off and the congregation sit in a semi-circle and face the altar on the north side.
