Hero cup was a cricket tournament organized by BCCI and partly by Bengal Cricket Association on its golden anniversary in 1993. India defeated South Africa in semi-finals when Sachin Tendulkar bowled the famous last over giving just 3 runs. The finals was played between India and West Indies at Eden Garden, Calcutta.Mohammed Azharuddin was Indian Captain and with the help of Anil Kumble's genius bowling performance (6wkts for 12runs), India won its first major tournament after the 1983 Prudential World Cup
