Hermen Rode

Hermen Rode (* bef. 1465; † aft. 1504) was a German painter.

Hermen Rode is recorded in Lübeck as late gothic painter.In his importance he stands equally next to his fellow Bernt Notke. Both together were the most important exporters of art into all countries around the Baltic Sea. Rode painted the first known view of the skyline of Lübeck with its then eight church towers as background on an high altar, which was delivered to Reval in 1481.
