His primary languages of communication as a kid were Luhya, his mother-tongue and Swahili, the national language of Kenya. He picked up his command of the English language from the diligence of his father, whom he often tells of how he would urge each of his kids to play Scrabble every night before going to bed. As he began harnessing his vision for life, Herman began reading books by many motivational speakers and leadership experts.
