  • the ancient rhetorician Hermagoras of Temnos
  • several saints, especially venerated in the dioceses of Goerz (being its patron saint), Gurk and Aquileia (said to have been its first bishop and to have died a martyr c. 70 AD, in Italian Sant'Ermagora.).
