Heritage station

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In commercial radio, heritage station is the term for a radio station that has broadcast a specific format for a sustained period of time.

Heritage stations are usually recognized by the listening public as the dominant (or only) station broadcasting said format in each market. Heritage stations usually keep their call letters and/or brands intact for years.

In most cases, there is only one heritage station per format per market. However, there may be more, in the case of multiple stations who have been competing in the same format for years.
