Here Comes the Hotstepper
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Here Comes the Hotstepper" is a hip hop song from the musician Ini Kamoze. This song was recorded in 1994. It interpolates the well-known "na na na na na..." sequence from Wilson Pickett's song "Land of a Thousand Dances". It uses a sample from Taana Gardner's "Heartbeat" from 1981. To date it is Kamoze's only US number-one hit. The song was particularly popular in fashion shows of the 90s and came to describe many supermodels or chic girls as "hotsteppers". The song was written for Prêt-à-Porter and a music video with footage from the film was released and included on the U.S. VHS release.
