[edit] Herbicidal Maniac
As General Skarr tends to his beautiful garden intending to win a "Good Neighbor Award", he finds a seemingly indestructible weed. Skarr calls Grim to help him with the weed, but even the Grim Reaper can't destroy it. When Billy sees their dilemma, he takes a lawmower, invades Skarr's garden, and trying to aim the lawnmower at the evil weed, destroys the whole garden. Skarr, in a desperate attempt to stop the destruction of his beloved garden, tries to take Grim's scythe "for a second", and eventually gets accidentally zapped and blazed in green fire.
After Skarr wakes up, he sees his garden lying in ruins, and finds himself turned into a "chlorophilic freak". The upside is that he has got a power over plantlife (similar to Poison Ivy in the Batman franchises), and he uses it to rebuild his garden, making it more glorious than ever. Now, wanting to exact revenge, Skarr tries to kill Billy. First he turns into a bush, and Billy urinates on him saying he "drank 12 glasses of iced tea". Then he turns into a tree and pecked at by a woodpecker, claiming it's "in his brain". Then kidnapped by a swamp beast (mistaking him for a woman), eaten by vegetarians, and used as a nest for Jeff's eggs.
Skarr realises it would be easier to take care of Billy on his own field, in his glorious garden, so he throws a pool party to celebrate his incredible victory in "Endsville Good Neighbor Award" competition, which he has won for having a beautiful garden. He takes Billy to his backyard and traps him in supernatural roots. He uses a lawnmower, intending to slice him into a million "Billy Bits", the same way Billy has destroyed his garden, but he accidentally drops his Good Neighbor Award into the shredder. The lawnmower explodes, sending Skarr flying--into a chopper's rotor. Two weeks later, Billy is still trapped, and Skarr regrows--only to get urinated on by a dog.
[edit] Chaos Theory
While shopping at Costmo, Mandy and Grim notice that the store is unusually organized. This is because Hoss Delgado is dating Eris, which Hoss claims "since episode 47," thus bringing order to her life. Without chaos, Hoss can no longer do what he does best, which is fighting off monsters. So, with the help of Billy, Mandy, Grim and Irwin, he unsuccesfully tries to break up with her.
[edit] End Credits
The credits show a skull appears to be Billy in Skarr's garden. After that, Billy goes in and take the skull, implying that it's not Billy(And also stating that it belongs on his mom's pillow).
[edit] Cultural References
- Skarr's green chlorophyllic appearance seems to resemble a Pikmin character from Nintendo GameCube game series Pikmin. He also goes through the life cycle of one too, budding at one point and re-sprouting at the end of the episode. Also, as Billy was being bound by the vines, his face was in the shape of Captain Olimar's, the main character of Pikmin. And finally, shortly after Skarr was run over, he twitches his leg and makes a sound effect very similar to the voice of a surprised pikmin.
- In the very beginning of Herbicidal Maniac, Cow from Cow and Chicken provides Skarr with quite a load of manure for his garden.
- Johnny Bravo appeared at the General Skarr's party.
- Episode's title Herbicial Maniac is a reference to the terms "Homicidal Maniac", and is possibly a reference to Johnny the Homicidal Maniac.
[edit] Trivia
- First time Skarr says "the big guns", the second time is in the upcoming film Billy & Mandy's Big Boogey Adventure.
- Herbicidal Maniac is the second segment centered around General Skarr, after Skarred for Life.
- In Herbicidal Maniac, Mandy has no diaolgue. She, however, appeared on Skarr's pool party, and was wearing another pink swimsuit.
- Jeff the Spider made his fifth appearance, laying his eggs at Skarr.
- Second appearance of Ernest, an old insane man who was the first to give Skarr a welcome when he moved into the neighborhood in Skarred for Life. Apparently, he now has an obsession over staring through Skarr's window.
- Mandy, Nergal, Mindy, Billy's Mom, and Nergal Jr. do not say one word in this episode.
- Mandy's swimsuit looks different than it did in No Body Loves Grim and Billy Ocean.
- In Chaos Theory, the store Costmo is a parody of the major warehouse chain, Costco. The name is a play on the phrase "cost' mo" or cost more.
- The title Chaos Theory is a reference to chaos theory of the same name.
- Second appearance of Hoss and Eris together, after the episode Guess What's Coming to Dinner. Chaos Theory is somewhat of a sequel to Guess What's Coming to Dinner. Hoss Delgado mentioned that he has been in love with Eris ever since episode 47. However, the episode he was mentioning, Guess What's Coming to Dinner, was aired as part of the 48th episode, not the 47th.
- Irwin said "Yo!" 8 times during the episode.
- Hoss appears to have a case of endosoma.
