Herb grinder

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A grinder is a device to finely grind herbs, predominately for grinding tobacco and marijuana.

The hand-held appliance usually consists of two round disks, sometimes magnetized, which have small pins, blades, or "teeth" on the sides. The chosen herbs are placed in the cavity between the two halves and the grinder is repeatedly twisted. Moving in opposite directions, the herb is cut up by rotation. This results in a fine product.

Some grinders have a screen beneath the grinding pieces, used to collect the pollen that falls off.

The device can be made from a variety of materials including wood, plastic and metals. However, many wood or plastic grinder's teeth may break off easily.
