Henri Bracconet

Henri Bracconet is arguably the first inventor of plastics in the world. He was the director of the Botanical gardens in the town of Nancy, France in the early 1830's, and possibly earlier. He mixed sawdust cellulose with nitric acid, in the year 1833.
