Hemicholinium-3: A drug which blocks the uptake of Choline at the presynapse by the high affinity transporter ChT. This uptake of choline is the rate limiting step in the synthesis of Acetylcholine. Blocking the reuptake of Choline prevents more acetylcholine to be formed by ChAT (choline acetyltransferase) by Choline and Acetyl CoA.
