Hem Chandra Barua

Hem Chandra Barua (Assamese: হেমচন্দ্ৰ বৰুৱা), is one of the prominent writers of Assamese of the 19th century. He was the compiler of first exhaustic Assamese dictionary 'Hemkosh', where spellings based on Sanskrit was first introduced. It was the second dictionary of Assamese language.

He hailed from Golaghat District of Assam.
