[edit] High Pressure steam locomotive, High pressure steam locomotive etc
Hi, I was about to move the page but you redirected it. Please do not copy and paste, as it loses its edit history. Instead, click move in the top right-center of the page. NSLE (T+C+CVU) 04:54, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
Sorry about that, I didn't know I could do that. Thanks. EASports 04:58, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii
Hi EASports,
I see you have been organising some of the Prokudin-Gorskii pictures. This isn't a bad thing, but are you aware that most of them are already grouped and categorised on Wikimedia Commons at Commons:Sergei_Mikhailovich_Prokudin-Gorskii and Commons:Category:Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii (there is a Commons link at the bottom of the current En: article).
Ultimately the copies of the pictures on the En: wiki are likely to get deleted, so it might be better to work through and checking that there aren't any pictures that have been missed in the copying over to Commons — all the En ones should have {NowCommons} tags if they have been properly copied over.
By the way, I think that most of the pictures we have here came from the US Library of Congress archive (or some such) on another website somewhere I recall seeing a rather nice example of a Prokudin-Gorskii portrait of Tolstoy. I don't think we have an example of it within Wikipedia, and I'm suspecting there must be other sources of his photos that would be worth locating. -- Solipsist 12:51, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

Are there any references available for this article?TheRingess 06:19, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
- I got my info from books, but that was months ago. I'm looking for online references too. EASports 06:23, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Ushanka
You said you took a picture of that Ushanka yourself and removed the background. Do you happen to know where I could get one almost exactly like it, particularly the emblem of the USSR on it. Thanks in advance. 209.33.36.146 05:04, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
I got mine on ebay. EASports 07:07, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Request for edit summary
When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labelled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.
When you leave the edit summary blank, some of your edits could be mistaken for vandalism and may be reverted, so please always briefly summarize your edits, especially when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

What is the purpose of this image and why is it in the Patrick Duffy article? Can't sleep, clown will eat me 07:39, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging

Was it really necessary to repeat the same block of text twelve times on my talk page? EASports 10:25, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry for that, I will consider this for you (but, if images are deleted, do not blame me if I did not fulfill with the template instructions ;-)). Here are three more images lacking source: Image:Secondimpact.jpg, Image:Eva-Magi.jpg and Image:D-Type Equipment.jpg. Unluckily this is one of the worst tasks in Wikipedia, as people usually complain about the warning tags. Hopefully they will someday be modified. -- ReyBrujo 03:48, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image Tagging Image:Tsar Bomba under plane.jpg
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Tsar Bomba under plane.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Thuresson 01:45, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Secondimpact.jpg
Hi, I would like to know from which DVD edition and which episode you took this screenshot. I tried to look for it on my own DVDs (German NGE Platinum Edition) but all I found was a similar page in Japanese during episode #7. So, can you please help me? --84.175.221.155 20:39, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
- I have the older ADV release where they translated a lot of the onscreen text into English in the earlier episodes. I've been thinking about getting the Platinum release myself. EASports 05:16, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Street Light Interference
I am working on improving the article with this name. I am one of those considered a "SLIder" (described further in the article). This phenomenon has been happening to me for over 20 years. Last June I had my apartment maintenance supervisor hold my Sony digital camera on me while I went under some lamps to make them go out. The Sony P72 camera makes MPEG movies. The shortest movies I have that have demonstrated the effect are 4 MB and 10 MB. I don't know if I can e-mail to you to show you what I am talking about(?). I would like to show this effect by a short (i.e. under 100k) GIF movie of a "flickering" mercury vapor lamp going on and off (continously cycling on & off); that I could then place into the Wikipedia article on this subject to show the effect that I am talking about. Is it possible to make such a file? I am NOT computer software sophisticated and am not able to make such a file myself. Would it be hard to do (or even possible to do)? Could it be "cropped" from one of my movies that does show the effect? I noticed the digital neon movie you made and then thought maybe my idea could be done. What do you think? --Doug talk 22:10, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
-
- You might put the video on Youtube and then link it in the article. I don't think an animated gif could be made that would both show the effect and not be huge. Hellbus 22:35, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Duffybond.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Duffybond.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --Slowking Man 01:10, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
