[edit] "Ubersoft" & "Ubisoft" Similarity
I'm surprised there is no mention of the similarity between made-up company "Ubersoft" in this comic-strip and the real-life existing company "Ubisoft" -- "Ubersoft" sounds like a German play on the name to me. stuartyler 13:30, 09 Feb 2006 (UTC)
Ubersoft is based on Microsoft, and the swap from Micro to Uber isn't a big stretch (they mean different things but have similar grammatical place). Nifty Doorways is a play on Windows. This should probably be made explicit in the article, actually. 74.12.146.176 05:58, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Steve Case vs. Steve Jobs
The Boss lost his letters to Steve Case in 2002. Earlier, in the beginning of 2001, The Boss stole Steve Job's ego in a card game. Please, look up the strips in question before switching details. Thesquire 03:50, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Just adding my two cents here -- Thesquire is correct. In the example listed on the Wikipedia page, it is Steve Case -- the guy who started AOL and merged AOL with Time Warner -- who comes into possession of the flaming letters. Steve Jobs -- the guy who started Apple Computers -- does not come into possession of the letters until much, much later in the comic. -- The Cartoonist
[edit] Alice's Entry
I think this version works better, because although the wording is clumsy, it's more in keeping with the spirit of Help Desk:
As the lone female character at Ubersoft, Alice is nonetheless able to hold her own quite undeniably. She is Alex's sister, but is a primary force in the Marketing Department. As such, she is totally devoid of any moral scruples (due to being in Marketing, not Alex's sister) -- driven solely by the determination to sell whatever Ubersoft may (or may not yet) have available -- and to make sure that new vaporware is always on the horizon. What she lacks in a moral compass is more than compensated for in imagination.
The current one is as follows:
As the lone female character at Ubersoft, Alice is nonetheless able to hold her own quite undeniably. She is Alex's sister, but is a primary force in the Marketing Department. As a marketer, she is totally devoid of any moral scruples—driven solely by the determination to sell whatever Ubersoft may (or may not yet) have available—and to make sure that new vaporware is always on the horizon. What she lacks in a moral compass is more than compensated for in imagination.
The difference being "As such, she is totally devoid of any moral scruples (due to being in Marketing, not Alex's sister)". I dunno, I just think that's funnier. *shrugs*

You know, one of the Uberthugs is female. Stormscape 09:33, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
The article says "It is confirmed Alice does not know how to lie." I believe Alice said that herself and therefore creates a liar paradox. I think a wikilink should be made to that in that part of the article. --24.178.247.252 03:10, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Encyclopedic Character
Note to the person who keeps adding the slogans: listing a few of them as examples is appropriate. Listing all the slogans just creates a bunch of useless text. If you want to create a list of them elsewhere, fine, but if you want to add text to the article, please be productive and write a new character bio. Thesquire 05:53, 17 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Phil and Fooker
OK from the Ubersoft VS GPF Crossover event starting in late January/Early February 2001, we know that Phil and Fooker are old friends. We also saw a sequence from Fooker in school where he's chugging beer. Perhaps we should note their connection in the Phil section of the bios here? Dragonranger 21:01, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
