[edit] Plot summary
The episode begins with a scene in the Gekko brig, where Renton and Eureka are imprisoned on charges of running away and engaging in an unauthorized mission, respectively. The children are with them, also, although they have not been charged with anything. Moondoggie drops by with food, gas masks, and bulletproof vests for all of them, as well as a handgun.
On the bridge, Talho tells Woz and Ken-Goh that this time, Holland will protect both Eureka and Renton, even if it costs him his life. In the hangar, Matthieu and Hilda discuss current events and how it seems the time is right for a charismatic leader to take control. In his quarters, Holland remembers three names (Charles Beams, Dewey Novak, and Adrock Thurston) as he opens his closet for a box labeled "SOF Assault Kit".
The episode cuts to the Swan on autopilot. A shuttle detaches from the Swan, and flies into the night. On board the shuttle, Charles and Ray prepare for the assault, each swallowing a large capsule. On board the Gekko, Holland does some preparations of his own, painting his body with a dark paste and retrieving an assault rifle from underneath his bed.
Ray and Charles approach the Gekko, and they share their reasons for assaulting the Gekko: Charles to settle a score with Holland, and Ray to reason with Renton regarding Eureka. They expertly lift to the Gekko after jumping out of the shuttle. They make their way to an external hatch and plant an explosive as Woz picks up their shuttle on a collision course. The shuttle explodes close to the bridge, and simultaneously the hatch is detonated as well. Hap seals off all main corridors on the ship, and Talho issues an intruder alert.
Charles enters the engineering control room, but it is empty; Jobs and most of the crew are in the secondary bridge. Holland orders them to activate the anti-personnel lasers near the main bridge, as Ray will surely head there. As predicted, Ray is repelled from the bridge, but she spies some cables in the maintenance space. She patches her handheld computer into the Gekko systems, and proceeds to hack the system, deactivating the onboard electrical systems. She finds this easy, as the operating system had not been altered from the standard version, which is also found on board the Swan. Woz begins to counter-hack Ray, and says that her skill is "Wizard-level".
In a corridor, Charles loudly challenges Holland to fight him. He exchanges gunfire with Holland, who draws him into the hangar. They again exchange gunfire, and Charles notices that Holland does not appear on his night vision goggles due to his use of stealth body paint. He pauses to look at the Nirvash, which is glowing in the darkness.
Talho opens Renton and Eureka's cell, but before she can take them to the secondary bridge, Ray points a gun to her head. Seeing the children refer to Eureka as their "mama", Ray turns the gun on Eureka, but Renton points his own gun at Ray. Woz and Jobs restore the ship's systems, and when Ray is momentarily blinded by the restored lights, she and Talho grapple. In the hangar, Charles and Holland open fire on one another, but the Nirvash begins moving on its own, as if to try and crush Charles. Talho reports to Holland that she has captured Ray, and while Charles is distracted, Holland runs up and empties his clip on Charles at point-blank range. Charles, in his dying breaths, mocks Holland that he would not be the one to rule the world, and fires his rifle into Holland's thigh.
Ray, led by gunpoint to the hangar, delivers one last kiss to her husband. Holland suddenly tackles Talho to the deck, and shouts to Renton to get down as well—Ray had planted a time bomb on Charles, and used the explosion as a diversion to escape the Gekko.
