Heli Attack 2

Heli Attack 2 is an Internet game created by Squarecircleco. Players take the role of a soldier in a jungle-type environment, and must take down as many helicopters, or "helis", as possible before the player dies, using a wide array of weapons. Points gained were directly proportional to the number of helis killed, but were gained directly proportional to damage done (with a bonus for using special weapons) and averaged out by having the last heli die with you. Every 3 helis destroyed would give players a weapon or an extra (see below) or if the player had destroyed the heli from above (using a hyperjump) a random weapon was gained. Another sequel was created to it, Heli Attack 3. Heli Attack 2, due to its popularity and fun gameplay, was voted Miniclip's 2003 Game of the Year, and Flashkit.com's Most Addicting Game of 2003. Also due to its exceeding popularity, it was released for Symbian-enabled mobile devices, such as cellular phones.

[edit] Weapons

The weapons available in this game include:

  • Infinite x (machine gun): Your standard weapon. Identified as a machine gun in the after-game statistics. Unlimited ammo and rapid reload. It takes 30 bullets from the Machine Gun to kill a helicopter.
  • AkimboMac10: Like Infinite x, but shoots 2 bullets at once. Thus, takes 15 hits with both bullets to kill. One cartridge contains 50 shots. Reload rate even faster than pistol.
  • Shotgun: Shoots 5 wide-spread bullets. Most effective if used close up so the bullets don't separate and miss. Takes 4 hits to kill (a hit being defined as a hit with all 5 in this case.) One cartridge has 14 shots.
  • Rocket Launcher: Shoots rockets, which move very slowly. Kills a heli in three shots. Comes with 8 shots.
  • Shotgun Rockets: Shoots 3 wide-spread rockets that move faster than usual. Takes between 2 and 3 hits to kill. One cartridge has 8 shots.
  • Seeker Launcher: Shoots rockets that seek the helis. Kills a heli in three shots. Comes with six shots.
  • Grapple Cannon: Same appearance as the Taser in Heli Attack 3, it grapples on to an enemy helicopter and pulls them to the ground, destroying it instantly. Long reload time. Comes with two shots.
  • A-Bomb Launcher: Shoots A-Bombs. Only takes one shot to kill a heli. A-Bombs are slow, and mostly miss if fired from the ground. Each cartridge contains two.
  • Railgun: Shoots depleted uranium slugs that can travel through soil. Does damage equivalent to 20 pistol shots. Three to a cartridge.
  • Firemines: Shoots mines that shoot a jet of fire straight up from the ground for a few seconds. Does damage proportional to how long the heli is in the blast, and can shoot through walls. If set off and then used in conjunction with Machine Gun, the full blast combined with the bullets pretty much means an autokill. Three to a cartridge. However, the blast has no effect on you.
  • Flamethrower: A nifty weapon that appears in all 3 games. More damage if close up, and can kill a heli in one hyper jump if done right, but if done wrong takes more than half the cartridge for a single kill. One-hundred fifty shots to a cartridge. Reload time virtually nonexistent to simulate a stream of fire.
  • Grenade Launcher: Tosses grenades. Shot trajectories are parabolic, hence, from ground level these cannot reach the helis. Takes four shots to kill a heli. Twelve to a cartridge. (By the way, if a grenade returns to the ground and explodes with you nearby, it will propel you slightly in the opposite direction, but will not damage you.)
  • RPG: Shoots rocket-propelled grenades. Takes four shots to kill a heli. Grenades appear to hover before accelerating to an incredible speed. Ten to a cartridge.

[edit] Extras

The extras available in this game include:

  • Health Pack: Heals you of a maximum of two bullet wounds. Comes on 15 kills, 30 kills, 60 kills, 120 kills...
  • TriDamage: Gives you 3x more damage potential than normal.
  • Predator Mode: Gives you a upgraded railgun that kills enemies in one shot. You become invisible until hit by a bullet (enemies will fire randomly.) The only downside is that the screen turns photo-negative colors, so it's kind of hard to see what's going on.
  • JetPack: Gives you the ability to fly. Destroying an enemy in midair with this has the same effect as killing an enemy during a hyperjump (see below) (although that effect is currently under debate.)
  • Invulnerability: Makes you invincible.
  • TimeRift: Slows time down for everything except reload time and movement time.

TriDamage, Predator Mode, Jet Pack, Invulnerability, and Time Rift expire after a period of time.

[edit] Powers

  • TimeDistort: Slows time down for everything. (bullets move slower, you move slower, enemy moves slower.)
  • HyperJump: You jump significantly higher than a normal jump. Destroying a heli while HyperJumping gives the player a random weapon award, although the ammunition included is 5X less than the package when dropped from a heli (Intiger division returns integer with the remainder dropped off). Therefore, smaller ammunition weapons, such as the A-Bomb, won't be found as a random weapon.
  • Double Jump: Press the jump button again while in the air to perform a double jump and get higher.
  • Suicide(K-key): Deminishes your health, destroying everything and, therefore, ending the game. This goes off automatically if you die.

[edit] Enemies

The heli is the only enemy. Just like Heli Attack, there are an unlimited number of helis. There is only one level in the traditional sense, but if you get enough points the game tells you "level up", which seems to refer to an increase in difficulty rather than an increase in your abilities.

[edit] Glitches

  • If you take an atomic bomb launcher and fire it at the overhang, (while you are underneath it) you should explode and go underground. The only known way to come out of the ground is to hyper jump. We are not currently sure if you are able to be hit by helis' guns when you are underground. (The first time this was done I was able to be hit by helis, but the second time I was not.)
  • To perform this glitch, you need to move to the far right of the level. Near the overhanging ledge. Start moving on the ground to the left, right before touching the wall quickly press crouch. It will stick you into the ledge, if done properly. To leave that spot either hit crouch or hyper jump. Warning, you still can be hit at some angles by the Heli.
  • Occasionally when a heli flies off and returns, it will be entered in the tally at the top of the screen as having been killed. However, you will get no points for this "kill." It is unknown whether this affects when you get the next Health Pack.
  • In I.E (Internet Explorer) Click AND Hold the Left Mouse button down and drag off the game screen (and then let go of the mouse button), if done correctly the 'gun' you have will continually shoot without the need to hold down the mouse button. Warning: If the mouse button is re-clicked the gun will stop shooting, this can be repeated numerous times.
