Helen Eadie

Helen Eadie (born March 7, 1947, Stenhousemuir) is a Scottish Labour Party politician and has represented Dunfermline East in the Scottish Parliament since 1999.

Educated at Larbert High School, she is a graduate of the London School of Economics where she received a Certificate in Trade Union Studies (Industrial Relations Department) in 1970. She is a member of the Church of Scotland, and is married with two grown up daughters. Prior to her election to Holyrood Helen's background and experience included being a full time trade union official for the GMB working in the Surbiton Office. Helen's was also a full time councillor representing Limekilns, Pattiesmuir, part of Rosyth and the Izatt Avenue area [[Fife Council; the 11th largest local authority in the UK] being Deputy Leader until 1996 and Vice President of the North Sea Commission a collective comprising local authority members from the Countries surrounding the North Sea comprising Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, Germany, Belguim and the UK. Her father-in-law is former MP for Midlothian Alex Eadie. Helen worked for both her father-in-law in Westminster and also Lord Ewing of Kirkfourd, formerly Harry Ewing MP, Falkirk. Helen has also been a manager of a voluntary organisation known as West Fife Enterprise and was key to the organisation securing over £1million funding support to the West Fife Villages for training and employment provision. Helen whilst spokesperson for Fife Council Transportation Services initiated the work that lead to the Ferry links between Rosyth and Zeebrugge. Was vice chair of the Forth Bridge Board. Helen has been a member of the Transport and Environment Committee, served as Depute Convener of the Public Petitions Committee in the first session of the Scottish Parliament. Until 2003 Helen served as a member of the European Committee and currently in the second session of the Scottish Parliament is a member of both the Health Committee and the Public Petitions Committee. Helen is a representative of the Scottish Parliament to the British Irish Inter Parliamentary Body. Helen is an Honorary Fellow of the Scottish-Bulgaria Association having made two visits to Bulgaria in 2006.
