Helen Cresswell

Helen Cresswell (11 July 1934, Nottingham - 26 September 2005, Eakring, Nottinghamshire) was a British author of over 120 books for children including A Gift from Winklesea, the Lizzie Dripping series, and The Bagthorpe Saga.

She also adapted numerous stories for television, including Five Children and It and The Demon Headmaster. She was also an oboist.

Cresswell died at her home in Eakring, Nottinghamshire, aged 71 from ovarian cancer.
