Hela Havula

The Hela Havula is a Sri Lankan Sinhalese literary organization founded by Munidasa Cumaratunga. The movement advocates the replacement of Sanskritic words with their allegedly Hela (native) versions. It was incorporated in 1985. Besides Munidasa Cumaratunge, other prominent members include/d Sunil Shantha (musician), Rev. Fr. Moses A. Perera, Raphael (Raipiyel) Tennekoon (poet), Ven. Tirikunamale Ananda Anunayaka Thera, Fr. Marcelline Jayakody (poet, hymn writer), Arisen Ahubudu (poet), Jayantha Weerasekera (poet), Jayamaha Wellala (poet), Hubert Dissanayake (poet) and Gunapala Senadeera (poet).
