According to the ‘engi’, or the official history of the temple, this temple was founded as on of the seven temples in Muko, Settsu province, by Prince Shotoku, accrding to the order of the Emperor Yomei . The ‘Sango’, or the another name from the mountains, of this temple is ‘Mukozan’, meaning Rokko mountains. When the temple was the most prosperous, the temple is said to have more than 30 buildings, however the temple was burned by Murashige Araki in the war with Nobunaga Oda in the 16th century.
