- In Marvel Comics, Heimdall is the guardian of the Bifrost Bridge linking Asgard to Earth.
- In the manga (and subsequently anime) series Matantei Loki Ragnarok, Heimdall is one of the gods sent to kill Loki.
- In the Danish comic series Valhalla, Heimdall is depicted as a chubby and cowardly comedic character.

- In the video game Tales of Symphonia, Heimdall is the name given to the town of the elves.
- In the video game Xenogears Heimdall is one of the most powerful 'gears,' or mechs.
- In the game Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria Heimdall appears as guardian of Bifrost.

- Sam Totman, one of the guitarists from extreme power metal band DragonForce, used to go by the name 'Heimdall' in his previous band, Demoniac.
