Hedyloidea is the superfamily of American "butterfly moths", containing the single family Hedylidae. They are probably the sister group of the butterfly superfamilies Papilionoidea and Hesperioidea. Two genera are recognized, Hedyle and Macrosoma, containing about 40 species. Some life histories are known [1]. They were first placed among the butterflies by Scoble (1986); see also Ackery et al. (1999).
