Hebereke is a side scrolling adventure video game developed by Japanese company Sunsoft for the Nintendo Famicom (Nintendo Entertainment System) and released in Japan on the 20 September 1991. The game was only released outside Japan in Europe and Australia under the name Ufouria: The Saga with minor alterations on the 19 November 1992. The game is considered by those that have played as one of the better adventure games on the platform despite is limited release. This was the first video game in the Hebereke series with almost every "sequel" being a completely different style of game. 'Hebereke' is the character you begin the game playing and the Japanese name is colloquial and roughly translates to 'drunk' or 'untrustworthy'.
The games design is in the style of Metroid and Blaster Master where the player traverses an uninteruptable game world collecting items and power-ups enabling the player to reach even more locations, fighting bosses and minibosses. Throughout the game you can locate Hebereke's three friends who each have unique skills. The game allows you to switch between the characters at any time to utilse their skills when needed.
The game sports bright characters and graphics that are typically Japanese in design, done in the style of Bomberman, Kirby and particularly Hello Kitty.
As a result of a limited release of English versions of the NES game, the game has become quite rare, and are considered sought after items by collectors.

[edit] Story
Four friends each of a different species, Hebereke a penguin, Oh-Chan a cat, Sukezaemon a ghost and Jennifer a frog, live in a world named Ufouria because it is home to only four different creatures. The characters stumble upon a crater which Hebereke's friends fall in. Hebereke proceeds to climb down, were he begins a journey in a strange land to locate his missing friends and get back to Ufouria.
Each time the player locates one of Hebereke's friends, you must battle them in an attempt to help them regain their memory. Once all four are back together the game revolves around collecting keys to open a Temple Gate that apparently leads back to Ufouria.
