Hello, why would you not think the article Nazi architecture does not belong in Category:Buildings and structures in Germany Cordially SirIsaacBrock 17:32, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

Okay, thanks SirIsaacBrock 17:57, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Category:Buildings and structures in Rhineland-Palatinate

I have announced your new category on Portal:Germany/New article announcements. If you add other Germany-related categories, please leave a note there so others will notice. For more resources relating to Germany, you may want to check out Wikipedia:Overview of Germany project pages. Thank you and happy editing! Kusma (討論) 19:45, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

No problem, I understand. The listing of new categories there is currently more an experiment anyway. All the best, Kusma (討論) 22:01, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

Oh thanks for the catch on the link to Spanish language. It was one I thought about before posting the article, but forgot, in the midst of the million other details to creating a new article. I certainly like the Wikipedia community edit method of people I've never met or heard of making pages I've contributed to generally more useful for everyone. KP Botany 01:26, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Oh, I'm always sucking up to the folks on Wikipedia who are willing and able to do the tedious work that makes my contributions look great. One of my first articles, after writing it, I came back to find this beautiful professional encyclopedia-looking article--just a few changes, rather minor, and my work goes from purely amateur, to something anybody would be happy to encounter and use on Wikipedia. Eventually, I swear, I am going to find a way to con the lot of you into proofreading my work papers, too.
Serious, the spit-shining is, imo, one of the least valued yet most important tasks on Wikipedia, and will eventually be what makes or breaks its lofty goals. I always try to thank folks who are willing to do this, so I can do more research. KP Botany 20:22, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Great layout and corrections! but under categories, year of death should be 1967, not 1963. Best, Healkids 13:02, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for joining Wikipedia, HeartofaDog

Hi, I'm Xiong Chiamiov, another user at Wikipedia. If you ever need some help, please drop a message on my talk page (User_talk:Xiong Chiamiov). If you're wondering how to edit a page, going to Wikipedia:How to edit a page may be useful. Below are some tips which many come in handy sometime:

  • When writing a comment or sending a message, adding ~~~~ on the end will add your signature, as well as the current time and date. Your signature can be changed by going to Special:Preferences, or by clicking "my preferences" in the top right.
  • If you want to test that you can really edit pages, you may wish to go to Wikipedia:Sandbox, and you can add whatever you want! However, please do not make edits to Wikipedia articles with the intention of ruining them, as such edits are considered to be Vandalism.

Remember, if you need help, there are loads of places you can get it:

Thanks again for coming to Wikipedia, and I look forward to seeing your contributions [I don't think you were looking very hard...]. And remember, Be bold in updating pages! -- Xiong Chiamiov :: contact :: 21:29, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, although I have now been here for 15 months and have, I believe, c. 2,500 edits - are you perhaps just trying out your new AWB toy? HeartofaDog 00:26, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ceramics Stubs

Hi HeartofaDog, I highly appreciate your asking for help to the original "ceramics stub" author, what an honor...! On the Ceramics the stub the parent category is decorative arts not regulated just to FINE ART. Ceramics and pottery can be both ornamental and functional. I believe factories can produce decorative art, Wedgwood comes to mind, Pottery as a subset of Ceramics can be factory made. I would have you put back some of the stubs if they are currently unstubbed ?Goldenrowley 03:41, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi Heartofdog, oh my goodness I will also help the new user, if I can. I think I will relink ceramics stub to a better article as well, thanks for letting me know! Goldenrowley 01:09, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
Sure, I could use a helping hand, if you know how to fix the article "ceramics (art)" or create a broader article...and want to do it! I did not plan to do it myself, I am more of a painter but sorted all the art stubs last fall into basic categories and check them once in a while. I just added "pottery" to the top of the stub category which should help immensely to clarify. THANK you again!! Goldenrowley 01:31, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi Heartofadog, Thank you for the message. I thought it more logical to reply over at ceramics (art)Theriac 13:25, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ceramics stub v2

Hello HeartofaDog, after posting my message above I followed various associated links and found my way to the disussion page for GoldenRowley. During a recent exchange with him you noted "Also, although the user name is new, this is in fact NOT a new user, but someone with a track record under their IP address." What does this mean? Until last week I have read Wikipedia but never written for it.Theriac 18:57, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Keynes family

You are disputing that the surname variants are valid. I have researched the "de Keynes" family for more than a year and can trace its roots back to "William de Cahaignes" c1035, sometimes referred to as "Cheney" or "Caineto" with descendents often referred to as Chesney,Caineto or similar. I have also researched the Dakin/Dickin/Deakin/Dicken(s) and most, if not all, descend from their ancestors in Ashbourne or Chelmorton, Derbyshire or Norfolk beforehand.

In genealogy, there is often a lot of conjecture but I have found connections linking my beliefs through many associated families which have remained connected through the generations. There have certainly been numerous changes in surname from the recent Dakin/Dickin/Dickens to the much older change from "de cahaignes" to "de keynes" and "Cheney"/"Chesney" and other varients.

There may well be individuals with names that are the same as, but not necessarily descended from, the original ancestor.

My source for many of the variants is "History & gazetteer of Derbyshire" (1833) which I have images of but is not in my opinion suitable for inclusion as a "picture" (image) in wikipedia. I would welcome a suggestion on how I might present this as some evidence for quite a few of the name variants.ken 19:07, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Keynes (disambiguation)

I see that you added the remaining notable members of the Keynes family to Keynes (disambiguation). I hade originally removed them shortly after I created the page per WP:DAB which states in the relevant part

Lists
Lists of articles of which the disambiguated term forms only a part of the article title don't belong here. Disambiguation pages are not search indices. Do not add links that merely contain part of the page title (where there is no significant risk of confusion).

In any event, those included should be given dates per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages)#People and the use of British/English should probably be standardized since all the people listed are both British and English in the same degree. Eluchil404 05:03, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Do whatever you see fit - you don't need my permission! But stop waving the rulebook around - earlier attention to the Wikipedia standards on verifiability and accuracy would have prevented the need for so much remedial work on the Keynes family page.HeartofaDog 12:29, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
I was trying to get your opinion and help since this is a collaborative encyclopedia. I also wanted to ask your opinion before simply reverting you to avoid a so-called "revert war" where we each insist on our prefered version. As for Keynes family, I am not sure what you are blaming me for. I just created a family tree of a modern notable family. Since I have neither knowledge nor sources on the history and origin I have simply defered to those who do. Eluchil404 16:09, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
As for the disambiguation page, Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages)#Examples of individual entries that should not be created has this (bolding mine):
"People who happen to have the same surname or given name should not be mixed in with the other links unless they are very frequently referred to simply by the single name (e.g., Elvis, Shakespeare). For short lists of such people, new sections of People with the surname Title and People with the given name Title can be added below the main disambiguation list. For longer lists, create a new Title (name), Title (surname) and/or Title (given name) page, or a List of people named Title."
This is what is already on the disambiguation page, so I see no need to change it.
As for the rest, you already have my opinion and help, should you need it, but there is really no reason why you should not simply go ahead and make any sensible edits that seem good to you. I have no great personal interest in this article or subject and have never engaged in revert warring - although admittedly you have no way of knowing that.
I am not blaming you for anything and am sorry if I am coming across as snappy - I am sure your intentions are nothing but good. I just don't like having rules quoted at me on minor issues.HeartofaDog 20:34, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Cheers for the update, has more meaning and relevance now. Roone72 15:38, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

If you have any more revision ideas I would be happy to see them especially on the article Loja Province, thanks again, Roone72 15:40, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

I'm always surprised (pleasantly) when people say thanks for disambiguation fixes, as it's such a microscopically nit=picking level of editing - you're very welcome!HeartofaDog 15:45, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikigender

Hello HeartofaDog, Thank you for the reply, and sorry for being a little late in replying. I hope you didn’t take offence at my flippant comment; it was intended to be nothing other than lighthearted. Yes you correct that I have no user page. This is for two reasons: (1) I’n new so am still learning about Wikipedia’s policies and procedures, and (2) I have thought for some time about joining Wikipedia as I have received mixed comment from a number of people in the real world. Negative views have included that it petty arguments can easily start, and these can sometimes degenerate into quite vicious arguments. Because of this concern, which to be fair I have not experienced, I have been somewhat disinclined to be too public in who I amTheriac 13:33, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Response

Right. So:

  • Moondyne's away till the 20th.
  • I've been warned by SatuSuro, but is around. Will inform of response immediately.
  • HeartofaDog seconds that warning and looks to be around. Will inform of response immediately.

Trigger happy. Do you remember that HeartofaDog? Or is just a coincidence? Ah, well no matter. What is the matter, it seems, is my use of the tool: Auto Wiki Browser. First let me apologize to my lateness in response. I assure you, I do not run from confrontations and this is necessary to be resolved.

SatuSuro, what you need to do to and where you need to go to have an argument about this is to come on to my talk page, which you have done. Perhaps it was not still going, just running faster than your list could be updated. The machine is not to blame, I am. However, I would never choose disrupt and annoy. I only seek to edit for improvement.

  • Moondyne, I thank you for your good faith. I will never again use AWB for solely minor edits such as moving stub notices and removing blank lines.
  • HeartofaDog's Spades trump my Clubs. I thank HeartofaDog for inforiming me of the large spread of my actions.
  • AWB is an excellent tool, and I will use it responsibly and usefully.
  • I will impose upon myself a: one month ban and two month probationary period for the use of AWB.

Thankyou for your time, patience and concern. If there is any more that must be said or done, show no hesitations in contacting me. Regards, Dfrg.msc 1 . 2 . Editor Review 05:32, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Referrence in Freedom Monument article

What do you mean - "this is gibberish" ? Should I name author and publisher in Latvian (I couldn't find any wikipedia policy on naming foreign sorces and names of state offices are usually translated) were it sounds as idiotic as in english ? -- Xil/talk 09:31, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

It's OK, no need to apologise, it's not that I felt offended - the sentence I quoted in the article could be concidered as gibberish by some, and the wording in the referrence also is confusing. I believe that soviet sorces are the best sorces to use when writing about soviet propoganda, however these book sorces don't have ISBN, which, as I read, is required for book sorces. Also as I said I'm not sure if referrences need to be translated - in printed books they're usually in orginal language, however I think it helps people who don't understand the language to understand what are the sorces, that is why I translated it to english - the orginal encyclopedia is in Latvian. As for the referrence - the publisher was establishment of soviet government (Chief editorial office of encyclopedias), the authors are people who were working for this establishment and the title page of the book referrs to "Chief editorial office of encyclopedias" both in name of the author and in name of the publisher, so I included both, it would be same in Latvian - slightly idiotic. I think the author could be changed to "collective of authors" ---- Xil/talk 14:12, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll see what I can do -- Xil/talk 14:57, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
