Heartbeat is an album by Curtis Mayfield. This 1979 offering, which mixed disco rhythms with soul balladeering. Like Sly Stone, Mayfield was stuck in the rut of following trends instead of setting them, although the album closers, "You're So Good to Me" and the title tune "Heartbeat" are both highly worthwhile cuts, almost making up for the tepid nature of the other tracks.
