Headshrinker (Oasis song)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Headshrinker is a song by British rock band Oasis, first released as a B-side to their single Some Might Say in April 1995. The song is a very fast, punk rock song, in the vein of their earlier Sex Pistols-influenced material. The song is popular amongst Oasis fans, and was included on the B-sides collection album The Masterplan as a result. The original chorus was changed from "I take cocaine in the pouring rain and I got no fear" for the recorded version. When this song was performed live it's original chorus was used, as seen in the Live By The Sea DVD.

The song's intro is similar to that of the Faces song "Stay With Me"; yet unlike other instances where Oasis were accused of plagiarism, Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood, who wrote the song, were both big fans and were happy to take no action. Stewart later covered the Oasis song "Cigarettes & Alcohol" on his album When We Were The New Boys.

The song was one of the last on which Tony McCarroll played drums for the band, before being fired in the summer of 1995.
