Heads of Beef (Courage the Cowardly Dog)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heads of Beef is a very famous episode of Courage the Cowardly Dog. It is based on the theme of cannibalistic horror films set in a restaurant where the owners appear to be cooking and serving the customers.

[edit] Plot

Muriel is ill, so Courage and Eustace go to a diner's to eat. They go to a place called Burgers, Really Cheap! which appeals strongly to Eustace. The pig behind the desk introduces himself as Jambon. A plump customer next to Courage asks the pig where the bathroom is. Jambon directs him. Courage then sees the pig take the customer's coat and hat, as if he was not coming back. Jambon reassures him that he was waiting till he got back. When Courage is putting ketchup on his burger, the customer's face is on it! Courage shows Eustace, but the face has faded away(for reasons unexplained). Courage then goes through the door that the plump man went through out of curiosity. He hears a conversation between Jambon and his wife, implying that they wish to eat him and Eustace. He goes back upstairs, where Jambon reappears. He tells Courage that his wife would love to meet him. He chases Courage downstairs, where his wife is eating something that appears to be a human head. Courage knocks down Jambon, when his wife appears. She says she could just eat Courage up. Courage runs upstairs. He tries to pull Eustace away, but with no success. He escapes through the letterbox. Jambon's wife is too slow to catch him. At home, Courage fears for Eustace, but in fact, as Eustace discovers, Jambon's wife makes meat sculptures in the likeness of their customers and there is no cannibalism whatsoever. The plump customer is very impressed with their creativity as they eat a sculpture of Eustace's head.
