[edit] The Company

Headfirst Productions was established in 1998 by father and son combo Mike and Simon Woodroffe. With over 100 titles to his name, Mike has been in the industry for over 20 years and started Headfirst as an independent developer of top quality games for both the console and PC market.

[edit] Mission Statement

Headfirst's passion and commitment manifests itself in the creation of exciting new content for both the current and next generation of consoles and PC's. Ensuring work is always of the highest standard possible, Headfirst is proficient at working on both original and pre-existing IP, with optional design, micro-design all as part of the service provided.

[edit] Strategy and Services

  • Headfirst actively seeks to acquire original IP and develop successful products based on those licenses. (Most prominent being the Call of Cthulhu license).
  • Headfirst has the ability to create AAA quality products based on existing IP whilst maintaining faithfulness to the brand.
  • Actively seeking to develop products on the PS2, Xbox, PC, PSP and Next Gen consoles (Xbox 360, PS3)
  • A strong and proficient tool chain ensures timely deliverables, which is supported by a technology driven approach.
  • Owns the rights to the Call of Cthulhu brand based on the hit RPG game by Chaosium.

[edit] Call of Cthulhu RPG

This immensely popular tabletop role-playing game is made by Chaosium Inc. and has been available for over twenty years, with more than 100 supplements. Millions of players worldwide already enjoy adventuring into the horrific worlds of H.P. Lovecraft so when the chance came to acquire the license for a computer game, Headfirst snapped it up.

[edit] Defunct

In February 2006, Headfirst Productions went into administration in an effort to pay off outstanding debts owed because of production costs associated with the many years of Cthulhu development. Assets were liquidated, employees were laid off, and the company was dismantled less than a month later.[1]
