[edit] Game modes
[edit] Soul Road mode
Soul Road is a special game mode where you pass through many boxes, fighting enemies, to level up your Partner to unlock bonus items such as Special Costumes and new Partners. There are five types of boxes: white boxes are neutral and may be passed through unhindered; red boxes are battlefields where you must defeat an opponent to advance; flashing boxes are special battles where you must defeat an opponent under abnormal circumstances (i.e., you must use at least a 3-Hit combo to inflict damage, or you must use a special attack to inflict damage, etc.); blue boxes are checkpoints where you exchange your accumulated victory points for Partner Trust percentage points; blue character boxes are checkpoints where you encounter your Partner and he or she asks you a multiple-choice question before allowing you to proceed.
There are Normal and Hard modes in Soul Road. Normal mode awards you fewer Partner Trust points for victories, and fewer Partner Trust points when turning in victory points at the blue checkpoint boxes. Hard mode awards you more Partner Trust points per battle, but your health does not get fully replenished when you win. Instead, after each battle in Hard mode, your health is only regenerated by 10%.
[edit] Mission Battle mode
This mode is for reliving some of the battles that occur within the main storyline.
[edit] Karakura Heroes mode
This mode puts the player into a humorous side story, with some extra anime scenes added. Don Kanonji leads Byakuya Kuchiki and Tōshirō Hitsugaya on some sort of wacky adventure, which involves battling other characters. Don exaggerates these battles, making it seem like he's hosting a huge televised event. Those added to this party include Renji Abarai and Soifon. The end scene involves the gang relaxing at an expensive hotel, doing activities that somehow fit their personalities and/or abilities (ex. Hitsugaya snowboarding, Soifon playing darts, Byakuya playing pool, and Renji relaxing in a spa).
[edit] VS CPU Mode
VS CPU is split into SINGLE and GROUP modes. SINGLE mode is the standard one-on-one versus battles. GROUP mode allows you to choose one of the playable characters and up to three Partner characters that grant you special abilities during the battle, such as extra attacks, buffs, or debuffs.
After choosing SINGLE or GROUP mode, VS CPU branches off again into four other game types:
- Time Attack - Defeat a series of 8 opponents as quickly as possible.
- Survival - Defeat as many opponents in a row as you can.
- Free Battle - Choose your opponent and a stage to fight on. Statistics are displayed at the end of each battle.
- Ex Survival - Choose your opponent and a stage to fight on; knockout your opponent 100 times in a row to win. This mode is unlocked when you achieve 10 wins in Survival with any character.
[edit] Additional notes
- According to V-Jump magazine, Bleach: Heat the Soul 3, and every other Bleach: Heat the Soul game, is based on the manga. This is very rare in video games.
- Where the gauge used to be is now three boxes with characters' pictures in them, now named "Partners." This allows you to get a brief power from your partner until the box runs out.
- This game is the first in the series to feature an Arrancar (Ulquiorra).
- This is the only Bleach: Heat The Soul game without a theme song.
