Noisturiser is the name of a now defunct Dutch lo-fi home recording project that existed from 1995 to 1999. Noisturiser enjoyed its most productive period between 1995 and 1998.
In true lo-fi tradition, founding members Rene Pinger (The netherlands, 1975) and Sebastiaan Schlicher (The Netherlands, 1975) utilised whatever object was available to them on location to noisturise their eardrums, and in addition to a limited range of traditional musical instruments, put to good use anything from toothbrushes, shoes, wine bottles, and cigarette cases, to kitchen utensils, and occasionally their own voices.
Recording and mixing sessions were done overnight, where the typical approach would be to record extended improvised jams, from which shorter tracks were then cut, and dubbed various times using cheap tape decks. The aim was to sound as 'raw' and home-made as possible. Although Noisturiser recorded many hours of fractured, low fidelity noise experiments, what is available today represents a mere fraction of what was originally recorded, as most tapes have long gone missing.
