Hawick Waverley Football Club

Hawick Waverley Football Club is a Scottish football club, which started life in the Hawick and District pub league as the Waverley Bar. They played in this league from 1976 to the season of 1980/81 when they joined the Border Amateur League as Hawick Waverley.
The Border league at the time consisted of two divisions, with the Waverley joining division two. The Waverley gained promotion in their first year by finishing Runners Up and have remained in this division throughout, winning the League title in the 1993/94 season.
They have won every cup on several occasions except for the South Cup where they have been beaten in no fewer than four semi-finals.
In the season of 2001/02 with the East of Scotland side Hawick Royal Albert on the brink of becoming defunct due to lack of committee and with only two players signed, Hawick Waverley stepped in and split their pool of players, thus enabling both sides to continue in their respective leagues.
Hawick Waverley's best season ever was 2004-05. They started by winning the oldest cup in the borders, the Border Cup, just before Christmas, and also lifting the Waddel Cup; they then went on to lift the League title, narrowly beating Chirnside and Pencaitland in a thrilling end of season scramble.
