[edit] Brand History

The Company was founded by Ron Rice in 1969. It is the largest private manufacturer of sun care products in the United States.

They have sponsored bikini competitions for women around the country and the world every year to seek out spokesmodels with beautiful faces, exceptional figures, and flawless tans for their products. Many winners of these competitions have been modeling since and have appeared in advertising campaigns, swimwear, and lingerie catalogs. Many of the winners have posed nude in the pages of Playboy.

The company sponsors the Sun Fun Festival in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and since 1983, has sent out its bikini clad girls to the 24 hours of Le Mans as promo girls.

In late 2006, the company opened a theme restaurant called Hawaiian Tropic Zone in New York City near Times Square. The restaurant features waitresses in bikinis designed by Nicole Miller and a menu by chef David Burke. Restaurateur Dennis Riese and nightclub owner Adam Hock also have ownership interests in the restaurant.
