Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

As it snows on Christmas Eve at the X-Mansion, Rogue, Jubilee and Scott Summers sing carols while decorating their lofty Christmas Tree. After Scott declares himself to be not much of a singer, Jubilee asks the brooding Wolverine to take Scott’s place and sing the men's part in Jingle Bells. Wolverine declines, stomping off while stating that the day he sings Jingle Bells in the day that pigs fly. Scott tells Jubilee that she shouldn't let Wolverine's scrooge-like behavior dampen her holiday spirits, and Rogue flies her up to the top of the Christmas Tree to put on the star.

In the kitchen of the X-Mansion, while Jean Grey is making up the Holiday Feast, Gambit samples some of her cooking, only to find it to his dissatisfaction. Jean commands angrily for Gambit to leave her cooking alone, declaring that the day she needs his help in the kitchen, is the day that she stops cooking.

Beast meanwhile, wearing a white apron, hangs upside down in the lab-room as he makes his special cranberry glaze. Something goes wrong however and it ends up exploding, covering him and the entire lab with the red liquid. All the X-Men rush in, thinking something horrible has happened, only to find a "red" Beast. Wolverine comes in late, asking if intruders or danger is too much to hope for. They reply that everything fine and nothing is broken, except for Beast's pride. Wolverine grumbles that he has to get away from all this Christmas Cheer. Jubilee asks him to go with her and Storm to the mall to pickup some last-minute gifts, tempting him by calling him "Wolvie" and asking him in a pleading voice. Wolverine submits, replying that he'd do better fighting Sabretooth.

On the way they see some Morlocks attacking an ambulance, but it turns out they are stealing medical supplies because the young Morlock Leech is gravely sick and hospitals will not accept him. The X-Men follow them back to their lair, and Wolverine gives a blood transfusion to try to save Leechs life with his super-immune blood. At first Wolverine is reluctant to do it as he states that he has tried to save people with transfusions of his super-immunte blood in the past, and sometimes it has worked and healed critically injured people but other times the tranfusion was violently rejected and his friends who he was trying to save ended up dying. The Morlocks, living as homeless squatters, do not really have much of a Christmas celebration, save for discarded christmas decorations and food which Leech was adept at stealing to provide for the group. A small Morlock girl does not know what a Christmas miracle is but Jubilee says she hopes she will see one tonight. Leech survives and all celebrate Christmas together. Jean and Gambit eventually come to blows over criticism of each others cooking.
