King's single failed to make an impact on its initial release. However, it was later recorded by Eric Clapton's Derek and the Dominos for their 1970 Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs. Clapton has since championed the song, with live versions appearing on E. C. Was Here and 24 Nights.
