Haut-Médoc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Haut-Médoc region forms the southern and larger part of the Médoc wine-growing region of Bordeaux in Western France. The wines are made predominantly from the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grape varieties. In the Haut-Médoc there are just five Crus Classés (classed growths), namely the Châteaux of Belgrave, Camensac, Cantemerle, La Lagune and La Tour Carnet. There are also many wines in the Cru Bourgeois category, including Châteaux Beaumont, Cissac, Coufran, Larose-Trintaudon, Liversan, Malescasse and Sociando-Mallet.
